About Lanzarote
The fourth-largest Canary Island, about 130 km off the African coast, with bare volcanic landscapes protected as a biosphere reserve since 1993. Visitors split between resorts such as Costa Teguise and quieter towns like Teguise and Famara. Population: about 163,467 (2024).
When to go
Mild and dry all year: summer days near 29 °C, winter around 15 °C, and almost no rain from April to September. That reliability makes it a classic winter-sun trip from northern Europe.
Getting in from the airport
Arrecife Airport (ACE) is about 5 km west of Arrecife, the island capital, with budget flights from across Europe, mainland Spain and the other islands. Most visitors transfer straight to their resort by bus, taxi or pre-booked shuttle.
