About Honolulu

Hawaii's main city and gateway, on the south shore of Oahu, with Waikiki as its best-known beach district. Most Hawaii trips, including onward hops to the other islands, pass through here. Population: about 350,964 (2020).

Getting in from the airport

Daniel K. Inouye International (HNL) has an overseas terminal and an inter-island terminal linked by a free shuttle. TheBus route W runs every 15 minutes through downtown to Waikiki (no large luggage), and a shared shuttle serves Waikiki hotels; the Skyline light rail also stops at the airport.
